Uh Oh
Now we are getting technical. Lets see, I guess you can eliminate the Sno-Cat, as it is neither amphibious nor 6 or 8 wheel drive. But then it's going to get complicated. Are you just counting amphibious or amphibious AND 6 or 8 wheel drive? Right away I see problems in your list either way.

Tracksters = twin track drive and may or may not be amphibious depending on the model

Alsport Tracker = twin track drive w/ 2 wheels or skis but definitely amphibious

Passe Par Tout = twin track drive, Deep Ford will handle 18" of water but not truly amphibious like non-marsh model Tracksters.

Coots = 4 wheel drive and I believe they're amphibious.

Grizzly = 16 wheel drive and amphibious

Max, Argo, Attex, Scrambler and the rest are Ok either way.

We are counting all amphibious mechines even if it is only a 2 wheeler as long as you can sit on or in it and go acrossed a lake or pond and back on to land again, or throgh swamps you know amphibious...... Now I will do my best to keep up but feel free to correct me ... becouse I don't know half of these mechines... just the ARGO'S AND MAX'S.

MAXIV and this baby spends her life fishing for flathead catfish (yellow cats) on the lower colorado river in central Texas. She has taken me over rapids, swamps, quicksand and thousands of water mocasins and rattlesnakes safely and with nary a complaint. I use it daily to run 200 hooks of trotline and have boated fish over 50# with no trouble. A trouble free work horse. She just needs a little help when going upstream against the wind and current, so, I got a 2 hp outboard mounted on the front end.

I just want to say I think lilchief is doing a great job.
So, far he has been the only person ambitious enough to keep track of the count.
I come to the string everyday to see what’s new.
I think his efforts are what holds this thing together.

As he stated earlier, he is not familiar with all the machines and since he is doing the work
I say, it is at his discretion to list the way he wants.

Now that all of you have claimed your allegiance, why don't you all (that haven't already) go to the "Owners Registry" on Route6x6 and sign up. Seems to me that there are a lot of us and more being uncovered every day. What a great medium - thanks Richard for all that you do and have done (and a special thanks to Jeff Boudin (hope I got the spelling right) who started this site back when the internet was a new born).

I'll claim a 1995 Max IV 600T with 26" tires (my first Max IV demonstrator and the machine I still use for that purpose). I have many others "in stock", but except for a Max IV 900T (which has too much power and I haven't learned how to drive it yet), they just sit waiting for new owners.

I attended a very nice seminar at the Humphrey ride 2 years ago. It was on argo extraction. I found it imformative and educational. Of course owning a MAX I do not need to use such techniques.

I don't know about you guys, but my Max travels through mud much easier WITHOUT pushing a 910 pound 3x6. I don't see where the Bigfoot is helping me. A stuck Bigfoot being pushed through mud by such a lesser machine does put on a good show.

Need to add another Coot to the board. Just picked up 1 1/2 coots. I have an Attex super chief that has already been counted, but, the more I drive my coot, the more impressed I am with that machine!! It may not have six wheels like my Attex, but then again, it may not need six wheels!!

Add another ARGO CONQUEST for me...Had it out in Pyramid Lake...had a "discussion" with the locals about it being a boat or not. No lights or number markings so was illegal if a boat...but no outboard or "inboard" motor so was more like a canoe with a motor sitting in it. Canoes do not need licenses. End point was the conclusion I had better get out of the water and stay on the land...well that turned out to be OK as it is MUCH faster on the land than in the water. Next time I will have a license AND an outboard.

DEPENDING ON YOUR PLOW DESIGN THEY CAN WORK AMAZEINGLY, I HAD 38 HP MAX II (440CC 2 STROKE)WITH MY PLOW AND IT WOULD PUSH THE SNOW TILL I STOPED THE MACHINE, HOWEVER MINE CAME WITH A MACANICLE BLADE LIFTER AND I DON'T HAVE A WINCH YET, SO AFTER A FEW YEARS I JUST GAVE UP AND SHOUVELD, THE YEAR I FINALY PUT ON A WINCH YOU CAN BETT I'L USE MY PLOW AGAIN!

Doug, I have seen an ARGO used for plowing and I was completely blown away at how easy it looked. If you have a winch, its effortless almost, drive up to where you want to plow, drop the blade, move the snow, lift blade, spin er around, go back for more. And its saves your back and pocket from getting it plowed.

I have an Argo Bigfoot with the plow, it works great. Had to add a windshield because It pows so fast some of the power snow from the blade hits you right the face.

I have an Argo Conquest with a top and canvas sides and a winch. It has 18 inch tracks and I added the ice cleats which makes it 24 inches. I access a remote communications site at 10,000 feet above sea level all winter. I am very happy with my purchase and have had it 2 years now. I have about 80 hours so far and my dealer in Grand Junction, CO is great. MCS Argo. They are always available to answer questions I might have. Would buy another.
