$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I'm less then 6 months away from buying a new AATV. I also have friends buying later this year. I've sent away for literature and closely read the discussion boards here to get a reality check on the products I'm interested in and try to avoid ones like the Power Track ATV-6000.
I started this section to "turn the lights on" the financial side of the market. Please help everyone who reads this posting find the CURRENT PRICING of the vehicles available.
If you don't know, or not sure, just don't put anything. DON'T GUESS!
I am looking for the CURRENT RETAIL and HORSE POWER of today's AATVs.
Thank you for your help -------- BILLY

Max IV 900-T with 25hp/G --- $9,305
By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Shane I don't know where you live but the MSRP in Missouri for the Max IV 25hp is $8200.
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
O.K. then, just go ahead and guess. At least try to be in the same ball park with the MSRPs or just type in what you paid for your vehicle.
Just trying to compare the WHOLE aatv market.
Thanks for trying......BILLY
By Bob Bascomb on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Brandon, do you know what MSRP stands for? Manufacturers sugested retail price, the MSRP on a IV-900T is $ 9305.00. If you have a dealer selling one for $ 8200.00 he is giving you what is called in the real world a discounted price. Sorry to everyone else that did not need the lesson in basic economics.
By Shane on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Hey MaxRules, I live in central new york, and just last week I went to a Max dealer. It doesn't make me an idiot when that's what the man said. I'm real currious to see what these atvs really do go for now! I mean there's no real consumer reports on aatvs. Thanks for clearing up the air.

I want to know if there is any dealers out there ballsy enough to log in. I bought a used hydro traxx that is only 3 years old and i wanted to know what the new 1's go for? Is that price on the coot right? How does billy know?
By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Max prices did go up slightly on August 1. I got the price from the brochure I was sent from Recreatives. The recent price increase could have raised it to no more than $8600. The price a dealer tells you may be different, I'm not saying anyone is wrong.

My 99 Argo Conquest in Alaska was $10,200. By the way Billy, The Conquest has a 20 hp liquid cooled Kawasaki engine, not an 18. The 18 B/S is in the Response model.
Accessories vary in price depending on if you buy the machine and options from the same dealer. The dealer in Anchorage is great and usually gives me a pretty good discount considering he has a fair amount of money tied up in shipping to Alaska.

Here are the new 2000 Max prices I got from D&R ATVs (www.maxatvs.net ).
MODEL RETAIL
11-450T 5,990
11-500T 6,985
11-600T 7,425
IV-500T 7,755
IV-600T 8,780
IV-800T 9,210
IV-900T 9,900
BUFFALO 11,620
Those prices are at least $1000 higher than I was quoted on '99 models. With all that extra money Recreatives is stealing from us, hopefully we will see a lot more new 6x6 models. It only took 30 years to get a small model change on the Max II!

Sam, there is a new drive system in the works for the hydro-traxx, do you know anything about it? I have been unable to get any info.
By sam richards on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
I'm not sure what the future holds for the hydrotraxx's drivetrain mike. I would consider buying a new one though. I'm still not sure what they start at.
By Marc Stobinski (Jerseybigfoot) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Saw the Hydrotraxx at Humphrey and the factory guys said it had shaft drives with angle-gearboxes at each wheel and 2 hydraulic motors. They also advised they are co-developing new multi speed hydraulic motors to increase the ground speed.
By sam richards on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Hey mark, what's the new ones go for? By the way any other specs on the hydrotraxx?
By Tim Wafer (Iflyrctoo) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Yes I also saw the Hydro-traxx at Humphrey. It did have two hydraulic motors on the middle axles w/ shaft drive and gearboxes to the front and rear. Seemed like a good set up, but by their own admission is still way under powered at this point. They have a plastic body in the works to replace the current fiberglass. Biggest problem I saw was the width at 6 feet. He had trouble in tight spots on the trail.

Here are the Argo prices I got for '99 machines. I don't think these prices have changed and they are from a dealer!
Vangaurd: $6295
Vangaurd 2: $6695
Bigfoot: $7595
Response: $8695
Conquest: $10595
I also have a HydroTraxx brochure that lists the vehicle at $13,995. I think it has gone down to about $12,000 now. I was looking through my stuff and found old brochures of Max and Argo. I have Argo brochures that show the Response as a new machine and then the Bigfoot as a new machine. One Max brochure is selling the base Max II at just $4495!!!

By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
MaxRules-- I was giving a lot more thought to your posting, and it dawned on me that the prices on most of these AATVs are only a little more than the big quads.
I mean some of the really big quads (Honda Foreman, Polaris Sportsman, Yamaha Grizzily, etc...) are between 6 to 7 thousand dollars depending on the options. The amphibs are about a 1:1 ratio or 1.5:1 ratio in price.
Even the big pricy amphibs are still less then 2 quads.
I doubt that the general public is aware of this math!!!!!!
Great work on digging up the Hydro-Traxx info; I know the H-Traxx is a very big vehicle, but why $12 - $14 thousand dollars?
Thanks to MaxRules and everyone for contributing--------BILLY

Well time to throw another wrench in the works. I'm from Michigan and I was given a cheesy looking brochure and a price sheet. My price sheet shows a Bigfoot at a list price of
$ 8295.00 plus freight. I guess my question is does the Argo dealers or distributors get to make up their own prices? I have bee to 3 different MAX dealer and every one had the exact same suggested retail price list. I know that dealers can make their own deals, but how can you tell if it is a good deal if you do not start from the same reference point. It seems a little seedy to me. I am still shopping for a vehicle I have not made my decision yet untill I can figure out what a good deal on an Argo is. I must say I do feel more confident about RI since I can tell when I am getting a good deal. I'm sure both are excellant vehicles, I just want a good fair deal.

By Fred Sowerwine, Montana's Max dealer on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
What matters is the size of the check you have to write. Anyone who buys a max without first contacting me will probably spend too much. I don't offer any financing and you have to pay in full with the order, but the best deal will come from me or from leverage from my prices.
By Bob Bascomb on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Billy:
The hydro-traxx is so expensive because of the cost of parts based on a very limited production. If they were able to get anywhere near the production of the MAX or the argo, the price would automatically fall in line.
So if you want a hydro-traxx one of three things will happen. 1: Buy a hydro-traxx at the current price. 2. Wait it out and in a few years the price may fall in line where it should be if they can get their production numbers up. 3: Wait it out and the hydro-traxx may be out of production and out of business.

Power-Trac ATV-6000 $$ Direct from Power-Trac
On Feb. 22, 2000 The price i was quoted, and paid was as follows: ATV-6000...$6,995.00
option 2 rear seats...$ 259.00
option 4 post steel canopy.$ 599.00
shipping to Bloomingdale O.$ 317.41 (to trucker)
total cost $8,170.41
A good price, IF it WAS amphibious and IF it WAS all-terrain, however for the NON-floating, UNDERpowered albatross it is it was greatly over-priced! I can't recommend it to anyone not living in a very flat area with streams under 24" deep,....unless you would like to buy mine in which case it's wonderful little machine I could be talked into selling (to pay for my sweet little Granny's surgery, of course) for what I paid for it, and with a little arm twisting I may even pay shipping!
By Fred Sowerwine, Montana's Max dealer on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Shane, I just sell the Max and I must admit, I really don't make a living selling them - it is more a hobby business (I think the machine is great, I use them and being the only active dealer in the Northwest is kind of fun).
Eddie, I was one of the first to sell on the web and I still give good deals, period. I always encourage people to buy from their local dealer, but if price is the determining factor, I can match just about any price (I could even sell at a loss if I chose to do so - I don't, but I could). I won't always meet another price - if I feel the buyer is playing me for a sucker, I will pass and not match a competing bid.
My very best internet price is a cash in advance price; my rationale is that financing costs money and if one is shopping for the best price, they shouldn't be spending what they save from me on finance charges or credit card surcharges (that is playing me for a sucker).
I'll say it again: What matters is the size of the check you have to write.

I have a pricelist from SupaCat. The price of the Supacat Mk111 Base Unit is £42656. The only problem is I don't know how many US dollars that is!! Maybe someone on here will know.

By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
As ususal- Brandon, you came through with the play of the day.
I didn't think we were ever going to price the SUPACAT.
Everyone who has checked their web site knew that they wanted one, but just by looking at it also knew they couldn't afford it EVER!
I use www.mamma.com for my search engine, then I searched for currency exchange and used two different ones to convert the amount. I am assuming that it was the Englich Pound.
English Pound === L42,656
American Dollars = $63,990 [Universal Currency Converter]
American Dollars = $64,105 [World Currency Exchange]
There is a difference of $115 between the currency converters.
What did you expect for a military [NATO] vehicle?
SUPACAT- (6x6) 78hp/D ========= $64,000

I think the British pound is equal to about $2 or $2.50 in US currency. So that would make it between $17,000 - $21,400. Yowch!!! Correct me if I'm wrong here fellas.

By D.mike on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
The last time I checked a pound equals about $1.50
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Hey Guys, I have no idea what the pound to dollar ratio is. I also am not sure about the style of math to calculate it either.
I am sure though of how to find the answer.
#1. Use any internet search engine (Yahoo, Alta Vista, Lycos, etc...)
#2. Search for "currency exchange".
#3. When using the Currency Converters - be sure to start with the English Pound then convert to American Dollar, not the other way around.
The answer is found for you and current, considering the world currencies are constantly changing everyday. I know that my numbers sound too high to be accurate, but like I said - these are really big MILITARY VEHICLES.
I'm sure they go for $64,000, easily.
Note: The SupaCat MK111 is a Turbo Diesel engine.
Is there anyone out there with the MSRP on the Triton Preditor 37.5hp/D ?
I saw a Centaur in the photos from the Humphrey, NY ride.
How did it handle the runs?

TJ -- Let me try to respond here.
#1 No I haven't purchased a 6x6 yet for a couple of reasons.
---I own a seasonal business and will purchase an AATV in the fall or worse comes to worse - winter.
---I am very pleased with the contrubitions 6'ers and 8'ers have made to this posting of the RAW AATV MARKET. I have learned so much and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I feel this is the best way to find the right vehicle for the right price. There isn't a CONSUMER'S REPORT - so why don't we just make one?
I haven't decided on:
Max IV 900-T ------ [I like the route 6x6 owner reviews]
Triton Preditor ------- [I like the hydrostatic drive system]
Argo Big Foot (8x8) --- [New Model for Next Year in yellow]
2001 Coot -------------- [What can you say? Really Tough!!]
#2 I'm glad you flew free of the spyder's web TJ. Dealers have to sell X amount of vehicles a year to retain their Dealership or they lose it. It sounded like he lost his 6 years ago and wasn't selling a new AATV, but helping you buy a new AATV.
I like the way you do business too -- calling the manufacture on the situation. There are so many people who just walk away thinking that there's nothing I can do. I'm sure R.I. didn't like it, but not much they can do about it either. It would take too much time and money for R.I. to sue him.
R.I. isn't helpless either, I'm sure this guy will receive a threatening letter from their legal department.
I'll E-mail you off line about the Max IV 900-T and business related conversation.
Good Luck TJ - like I always say,
"If you can't join 'em, BEAT 'em!"
Thanks buddy, ---- BILLY

TJ:
Thats nothing... a year ago I saw and argo in a show in Denver, Co. This so called "new" argo had 1992 off road stickers on it. It is neither RI's or ODG's fault that a slug tries to be a dealer and fails. I also guess you can't blame a guy trying to get rid of old inventory. The only way to protect yourself is to demand to see the certificate of orgin before you buy anything.
Oh yeah... for some reason the hour was disconnected on the argo. The hourmeter showed about 10 hours, but the machine looked like it had 110 hours on it.
I ended up buying a MAX II from a dealer in Pueblo, CO. He was great, he gave me a good deal and factory ordered the machine for me. Since the sale the support from the dealer and RI has been superior.

Dick,
I was with TJ when we went for a ride in this MAX. what a joke. The mahine had hardly any fuel in it and we had to keep choking it to keep it running. Then I felt kinda bad when I kept hearing some chain slap. when we got it back under the "carport" the seatbelt had fallen under the floorpan and got caught in the chain and tensioner. the tensioner snapped like a plastic toy. In all honesty this was the first time I had put a max to the test, and if I had to make a purchasing decision on this test drive I would have gone back to the Argo dealer 20 miles away. I will try another max though before I do make a decision, although for personal reasons I am leaning more toward the ARGO.

Billy,
I think your Suggested Retail prices on the Track Max are incorrect. My Rep told me the MSRP is $700 less than the price of the basic machine with the tracks option - so 20 HP Track Max would be $11,235; 25 HP TrackMax at $11,925.
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Fred - in the beginning of this thread, there was a lot of confusion over the MSRPs. Most people were quoted different rates, and some were posting Disount Prices as MSRPs. I'm not 100% sure about all of these listed above, but I would rely on this list to be 94% accurate or better.
I'm glad you are trying to clear up the possible problems of the List.
That's the only way to get to the bottom line.
There isn't really much info on the MSRP of the Track Max.
If any can help with the confusion, we need your 2cents too.
Thanks Fred ---- BILLY
By argomax on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Who cares what the msrp is. It should matter what the actual price you can really buy these machines for.
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
What's it matter for? Without the MSRP, a consumer has no way of gauging where the starting price is. A crooked dealer could sell you a Max IV 900-T for $13,000 if there wasn't a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price.
[Current MSRP is $9,900]
With this in mind -- you could have the dishonest dealer take $2000 off of his price and you would still be over paying by $1200.
Without the MSRP -- you can't tell if you're getting a good deal.
I guess MSRPs aren't very important, uh?
Hey ArogMax, are you a dealer or just a teenager?

I would have to agree with Argomax on this one. I couldn't care less what the MSRP is. It's just like buying a car. In all the vehicles I bought new over the years I cant ever recall even knowing the MSRP until after I made the deal if even then. I judge the value on what I feel its worth, not what someone else does. After all I am the one paying the price. To me the MSRP is just a number pulled out of the air that is meaningless. No one ever pays this price. A fixed price is a different matter but that's not what you are dealing with here.
Tim
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
I understand where you guys are comming from with paying what you want to pay for the final sale, but that's not what we're trying to establish here. I would do the same thing when I purchase by paying what I feel it's worth to ME.
The MSRPs aren't just numbers pulled out of the air. In fact it's the manufacturer's guide line to prevent dealers from pulling numbers out of the air.
If you go around buying vehicles without even knowing what the MSRP is, how do you know if you got a good deal or a bad one?
Don't tell me you have bought NEW vehicles without looking or knowing what the MSRP is at all. Give me a break.
It's not complicated, but it's not as simple as guessing what to pay either.
If that was the case, EVERYTHING looks like 2 dollars to me.
I don't care to argue with anyone, especially with something like MSRPs. If you don't need to know them, then great. I like to know the rules of financial combat before I spend around $10,000 for an AATV.
BILLY
By Russell Lee (Powerstroke) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Tim I somewhat disagree with that. A consumer needs to know where the manufacturer stands on a price; however, A consumer also needs to have some sort of idea what kind of deal he can or can't make. What diffence does a deal from a dealer make in PA when you live in CA.
Russ
By Tim Wafer (Iflyrctoo) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Most of the vehicles I have bought are pickups. If you look at the stickers on them you will notice that they don't even bother to put a MSRP on them. I have always negotiated the price from what the dealer pays for it, not from a fictitious MSRP. The only way I recall hearing the MSRP is after the deal was made; the dealer mentioned it to me. It was always several thousand dollars more than what we agreed upon. Even the dealer admits that it's a useless figure. I don't wish to argue either but don't tell me I'm lying! The mere fact that you are having such difficulty finding a MSRP for these vehicles indicates to me the value of it! I have worked in retail for 25+ years at a very successful business. I learned long ago how to set a value on an item. That's all I have to say and I will not post in this thread any further.

I have an older max and watch this board from time to time. I guess its time to throw my hat in the ring and ad my 2 cents. I read this topic from the beginning and found it somewhat amusing. Several of you seem to put a lot of stock in msrp while others "couldn't care less". There seems to be a problem even determining the suggested price and some even suggested guessing at it if you cant find it! I am in the major appliance busines and we have always viewed the msrp for appliaces as a joke. No dealer could sell at those inflated prices and stay in business long. I wish I could! Comparison shopping has become a very easy thing especially with the popularity of the internet. Someone commented that if you don't know the msrp how can you know if you got a good deal. A better question is "if all you know is the msrp how can you know if you got a good deal!" You have no idea if that price is highly inflated or resonable. Its an indicator but a poor one. A much better indicator is what the item actually sells for in the real world. Compare!
By Dale on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Hey, here's a novel idea. If MSRP is so important and you don't feel dealers can be trusted to provide the correct MSRP, why not just call the manufacturer directly? I have called ODG several times and have always found them to be very nice and accommadating on the phone. I'm sure recreatives and the others, except maybe power trac, are as well. All of them are listed with phone numbers in the links section of Route 6X6.
By BILLY on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Let's take this thread out from under the microscope and lighten up a little. We know that everyone, given the same situation, can act and react differently. I might spend my dollar different than any of you would and you would spend it differently than another guy, and on, and on...
There are a lot of great amphibious machines on the market and some that are still a bit rare. I just wanted to get a BALL PARK on what some of them are going for.
For example: before this tread, did anyone know what all of the BALL PARK numbers were. SupaCat MK111 ? Centaur? TerraJets? ATAV-(Coot)? 8x8 Land Tamer?
It was just to get some basic RETAIL information.
This thread was never meant to say that these were the prices you should pay. I like the SupaCat, but NOW I know that I could never afford one.
Like Tim and most of the rest of you, I will deal hard to save as much money as possible when buying a vehicle.
Actually, I agree completely with trying to get such a deal.
Peter - the idea of comparison shopping is great as long as you can compare. It's not like selling appliances. AATV's aren't sold at Wal-Mart yet. If I want to compare some of the more rare vehicles like Triton, Land Tamer, ATAV (Coot), or TerraJet, I might have a harder time getting a deal then the non-rare vehicles like Argo and Max.
Example:
Max II =$5000, but a SupaCat =$65,000
All this thread was meant to be was a candle,
not a light house.

Hey i agree with the meaning behind this post. I have a used hydro tracks and want to buy a newer aatv. I went looking over the links to see what there is on the market. There is almost nothing on what the prices are. I don't mind finding out some "ball parks" myself. i'm kinda glad to read this post. Thats just my opinion.

Hey Guys, Im new at this sort of thing, however after reading several hours of discussions on AATV'S i decided to look further into the MAX II. So i went to my nearest and only dealer and inquired about the two max II's that had been presented on the showroom floor. One had been already sold, while the other, was a new 2000 Max II ,18hp,heated throttle cable,22"rawhide tires, for the asking price of $6300. After speaking to the salesman, which turned out to be the owner,he then offered me the machine for a cool $6000. I beleive this was a fair deal. Any input ?? Also i would like to purchase or make a roll bar for this machine any suggestions?
By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
That sounds like a good deal on that Max. I bought a roll bar for mine after I bought the Max. It is listed at $250 from RI and it is well worth it. It is very easy to install and improves the look of the machine. I like it because it lets me get wild without getting hurt.

By Shane on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
I'm not sure, but $6,300 sounds like a 14hp or even a 16hp Max II. I would double check with the dealer to make sure that your on the same page. If he is selling the 18hp for as low as $6,000, then I would jump on it!
By gary marmaro on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Shane,i also believed that the price was to good to be true for an 18hp max II,however it infact is and i took your advice and purchased the machine today. By the way,Brandon im interested in purchasing the roll bar,how long did it take you to install yours? Can aftermarket lights be installed?
By MaxRules (Brandon_price) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Congrats on your purchase. The hardest part of installing the roll bar is cutting the two holes in the upper body. It takes a lot of measuring to get both holes perfectly centered in the exact spot. I probably measured and remeasured for about an hour!
After that it is quick and easy. The only other holes you have to drill is four for the seat belts. Mine already had pilot holes so all I had to do is drill them out bigger and didn't have to measure.
The roll bar and assembly is made very well. I have also thought about putting lights on it. You would have to drill holes in the top and you could probably run the wires down the inside of the bar. I would make them to where they could be pushed back behind the bar. If you mount them solid I'm sure they would be broken off. There have been many times when I just duck under the dash and run through a bunch of over grown bushes and trees. There are usually 1"-2" limbs that the bar pushes out of the way and I'm afraid those limbs would take the lights off.
After you drive through a big briar patch like that, you have to stop and listen to all the quad riders yell and complain at all the stickers and branches scratching them to death :-)

Gary, good luck with the new Max II. Let me know how you like it. Where are you going to get aftermarket lights for it?
I mean what brand.
By Harry Dusseau (Dirtyharry) on Unrecorded Date: Edit |
Gary-
Like MaxRules, I also added my rollbar after I had purchased my '94 MAX II. It was a fairly simple, straightforward installation. Definately worth the money and effort. As I mentioned on another thread regarding this same topic, some time ago I accidently slung my girlfriend out of my MAX while doing a hairpin U-turn. She wasn't hurt (except her pride) thank goodness, but it sure put the fear in me!!! I regularly take her young nephews and my younger cousins for rides and I didn't want anything like that EVER happening again! The rollbar w/seatbelts is the only way to go!!! (for your own peace of mind, if nothing else!)
With regards to a lightbar...
I made my own lightbar attachment for my roll bar out of a piece of angle iron. It locks onto the rollbar with four muffler clamps. I wrapped four pieces of bicycle innertube around the rollbar to keep it from getting all scratched up by the clamps, and to give them something to "bite" into so that the lightbar won't shift or work it's way backwards (rolling). I mounted my lightbar behind, rather than over the top of my rollbar.
The rounded portion of the muffler clamps slip over the front of my four rubber-padded strips on the rollbar, and the threaded ends pass through pre-drilled holes and secure through the back of the angle iron, underneath the top portion where the lights bolt on. This allows the rollbar to take the brunt of the blows from low branches and stray limbs instead of the lightbar, and helps keep my lights from being whacked out of position and/or busted.
The wires are all gathered and tucked into one of those black plastic, ribbed wirewrangler things and zip-tied along the underside. I have the lights set up to disconnect with male/female terminals right before they tuck into that small hole in the left side of the rollbar. Figuring out the wiring ahead of time was my biggest challenge, along with making sure that I didn't overload my battery or the charging system. It took me the better part of two weekends to go from basic idea to finished product.
The four lights (two spots & two floods) are evenly spaced along the two foot section of angle iron. The inner two (spots) point straight ahead, shooting far past the stock headlamps. The outer two lights (floods) are aimed somewhat down and towards the sides at about a 45 degree angle. Together, these four extra lights help to give me a terrific view all around the front half of the vehicle. I think it looks pretty sharp for a homemade job, and it really helps me see MUCH better when I'm blasting through pitchblack woods or navigating in the dense fog that often occurs in my neck of the woods in the post-dusk/pre-dawn hours.
I'm thinking about making a front "pushbar/brushguard" with a smaller piece of angle iron to protect the front edge of my MAX's body. I may weld some grab handles on it to facilitate easier positioning by hand when I'm loading it up on my truck's flatbed. Perhaps a couple of extra spot/fog lights on it, too??? Hmmmmm... we'll see.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW TOY! RIDE SAFE & HAVE FUN!!!

Diry Harry -

BILLY-
I've been stuck in the lower levels of Hell (translation: working ungodly overtime - 12hrs/7days) for a some time now. It helps pay the bills off, but it royally screws up my free time. I hadn't been on this site for a looooong time. I still haven't gotten my starter fixed on my MAX yet, so I've pretty much gone the whole summer without my 6 wheeler! Yuck!!! Oh, well... I've been working too many hours to have even had a chance to do any real riding anyways.
I don't have any pics of my lightbar. Maybe I'll try and borrow my cousin's camera and get some photos off to Richard to put in his TIPS / MODS section.
The whole lightbar project wasn't all that expensive. The main investment is the lights themselves. You have to use your own best judgement here. If you do a lot of wild riding or you ride where the trees hang low, you run the risk of routinely smashing out lights. Best not to invest a ton of cash into super-fancy projector-type lamps if they're likely to get busted out on a tree limb. You're better off with a set of cheaper auxillary tractor/implement lights from your local Quality Farm & Fleet shop, or a similar outfit. Or just buy the cheapo 4x4 truck foglights on the rack at KMart/WalMart.
A good, heavy roll of 12 or 14 gauge wire should be enough to run the whole light bar. I have my inner spots and outer floods running off of one common hot wire to the battery and split into two seperate toggle switches on my dash.
I bought the angle iron at the local scrap metal shop.
I guess I spent something like $50-60 for everything. A big expense for me was stainless steel muffler clamps. Regular steel will rust in a second and looks like crap. The stainless clamps should last me damn near forever.
You may be lucky enough to have a length of angle iron out in the garage that you can cut to size, or have extra lights lying around, (I already had a pair of old fog/floods off of my Jeep restoration project). The cheaper you go, the more you save obviously, but if you want to go top-dollar on all of the stuff, I suppose you could spent well over $100.
To some folks money's no object, so they'll go for it. I just wanted to try and do it myself and see if I could get it to work first. I may upgrade to higher intensity lights later on. Just make sure you don't overtax your battery/charging system, or you could be in for an unpleasant no-start in the middle of the woods on a pitch black night! NOT FUN!!!

Power-Trac ATV-6000,
In March of 2000 I paid $7,853 for mine, 25 hp. kohler gas engine, 4 seats, roll cage, 26" tires hydro drive steel body, and $300 delivery to my home.
I sure wouldn't buy another one! Not at half that!
It is seriously underpowered and floats like a swamped barge!
I am currently working on modifications to get it floating and climbing, which is what I bought it for, after all.
