Every fall I have to transport my Argo Response 6 miles up a lake to my hunt camp. We used to have an old homemade barge to use but it has finally been pronounced dead. I have found the perfect boat for transporting Argos etc. - The PREDATOR!
The predator is a welded aluminum boat capable of carrying an 8 wheeler and a whole lot more. They come with ramps so you can drive in and out with ease and in complete safety. The PREDATOR is made by Kropf Marine and they have lots of pictures on their website. Although the pictures show loading and unloading of a 4 wheeler, I have seen an Argo Conquest go in and out of the 18 foot Predator with ease. Unfortunately, the price is a killer. I'm trying to get a dealer (who also is an Argo dealer) to let me rent one this fall so we can decide whether to buy it or fix the barge (AGAIN!).

pj why not just put an outboard on the argo and go there that way?

Maybe I am missing something. I can understand why you might not want to drive it 6 miles across water, but why can't you tow it as if it were a barge? You could load it up with your stuff, cover it with a tarp, rig up something to attach it to the tow boat and you are on your way.

I Totaly agree with fred!!
I think it would be wise to rig a bilge pump and float switch just to be certain a bow wave from another vessel does not cause grief even given the tarp. After all an aatv will pull you to the bottom with it if it sinks!!!!!

You're right Fred that could be done quite easily. My problem is that this lake can get pretty rough (2'-3' waves are not uncommon with a north wind). Especially in October and November when the the water temperature is getting close to freezing and it could snow at any time. I tend to take a lot of gear so I also need quite a bit more transport space. And, MOST IMPORTANT, I hope to be bringing out a moose at the end of the week as well! I'm the only one in my hunt camp that has an AATV. The others use 4 wheelers that we need to transport as well. I'd hate to see them left back at the landing. It is too much fun watching them try to go where I can. To all you hunters out there, it's our favourate time of year, GET OUT THERE, HAVE FUN, BE SAFE, AND GOOD HUNTING TO EVERYONE!

Argo floats... tow it from your favorite little boat. A cheap aluminium rowboat with a small outboard should do the trick, and it's cheap.

Has anyone out there tried sand paddle tires on a 6x6 in the water?
