The MaxIV was used as the basis for an autonomous vehicle by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The DARPA Grand Challenge is to create an autonomous vehicle that can cross the Mojave Desert. The prize is $1,000,000. Check it out at

I Wonder why MIT chose a MAX ?

Thats one of those moot questions because MIT didn't field a team. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Team CajunBot) fielded a team. They had a MAX avalible and it was free so they used it.

Vehicle 2 - Team CajunBot - Vehicle brushed a wall on its way out of the chute.
Vehicle has been removed from the course.

I have a Hustler I planed to use but I did not qualify. Maybe next year.
